CELESTE

In CELESTE the audience is invited on a trip into the universe. The stage becomes an observatory; planets, moons, suns and other circular objects pass the telescope. Celeste is a total experience for all the senses.

The story is inspired by Athanasius Kircher’s book Iter exstaticum (1660), in which the main character is invited by an angel to go on a space trip through our solar system, in order to comprehend the qualities of the celestial bodies. Just like them we visit the sun in an asbestos boat (so as not to melt), but we continue the trip far beyond our own solar system, trying to find a convenient place to settle down…
